Welcome to the Ollerton of Yesteryear Website...

The committee of Ollerton of Yesteryear are trying to preserve the history of New Ollerton Village which developed solely as a result of the sinking of Ollerton Colliery. By our efforts we hope to enable the present and future generations to be aware of this development and to be able to preserve the important link that we have with our past.

This site covers the development of the colliery and the village with it's social, cultural, religious and educational aspects.

Great thanks to the Local Heritage Initiative (LHi) for sponsorship and assistance which made setting up this site possible. Thank you to all sponsors who contributed - The LHi, Heritage Lottery Fund, Nationwide and The Countryside Agency.
